dshostchecker crashing windows 10

Hi All,

Reaching out for some support, a 3rd party network our users connect to uses the pulse secure app.

has been working fine no issues however I believe the 3rd party have recently updated something and it has upgraded the dshostchecker version as a result this is now crashing across all our machines when attempting to run.

Below output of event log of the app crash.

Faulting application name: dsHostChecker.exe, version: 9.1.8.7851, time stamp: 0x5f3ecea3
Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll, version: 10.0.18362.815, time stamp: 0xbea5fce0
Exception code: 0xc0000409
Fault offset: 0x0009caa2
Faulting process ID: 0x1f84
Faulting application start time: 0x01d6868d86b218c7
Faulting application path: C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Pulse Secure\Host Checker\dsHostChecker.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\ucrtbase.dll
Report ID: a4c7fb63-c3d4-4db9-a0ad-864d98cfe06c
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

The version of dshostchecker.exe looks to have been modified on 20/8 build no 9.1.8.7851

Without this running users are not able to connect. To troubleshoot so far we have run windows 10 different versions 1903,1909, 1809 etc without success all have the same issue.

We have even tried a windows 10 vanilla deployment which also has the same problem so belive the issue is with the app itself rather than anything client end specific.

the 3rd party support on this is very hit and miss so reaching out to see if there is any guidance anyone could provide on a possible fix.

thanks,

Lee

Re: dshostchecker crashing windows 10

@ldstc There is a known issue with 9.1R8 VPN server and cache cleaner policies (host checker), please disable the cache cleaner on the realm/role which are being assigned to the users.

9.1R8.2 code should be having the fix and it's both client & server side fix.
