I just bought a sa1000 and sa3000 from a company that is going out of business. they neglected to send the license info so i can use them. One of their engineers told me to send him the hardware ID's and he will send me the matching licenses from their inventory list. how do i obtain the hardware id #? i sent him all the info from the stickers on the device itself, but he told me that it wasnt everything he needed.
they have very old software version 3.2.1. if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great
thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
There is no hardware ID until 5.1 (before then it was licensed to a company); the SA1000 & 3000 will support up to 6.0 only.
Have you tried connecting a serial console to the box? I believe that you will see the hardware ID and serial number from there.
I used the console to check the devices out when we first recieved them. Un fortunately at no point during the boot process does it mention hardware ID. The menu that shows when the device is done booting also does not have any options that would get me that info. here is what i get from power on to final menu

Hmm - what about when you login to the box and go to the system / Settings / License tab - are there any refererences at the bottom of the page? Or anywhere on the page itself? In later versions of the software there is a "licensed to" value. and a licensing hardware ID value displayed on this page.
Also If I recall correctly - prior to 5.1 there may not have even been a hardware ID, or if it existed it was not used for licensing. Licensing was done based on the serial number on the box.
when i log into the web interface and go to system>settings>license tab there is very little information. i pasted what it shows me below:
No valid license detected on this machine. The machine is running in default mode with limited functionality. Please contact Neoteris on purchasing a license for this machine.
License Information
Please note that entering your license key signifies that you have read and agree to the terms described in the license agreement.
i clicked through all the tabs and still couldnt see anything related to the hardware id. if there is any were else i should check please let me know.
thanks
i was hoping it wouldnt come down to calling Juniper. They are not very nice when it comes to EOL equipment and software. I think they prefer it if i spent the money and just bought the latest and greatest they have to offer. And for some equipment like the ns5gt, they wont even take the call !!
thanks for the help though. i needed to make sure that i covered all the angles for obtaining the hardward ID, and i believe we have. I will see about getting a newer software revision (maybe 6.x.x) in demo mode, and maybe ill be able to get the hardware id that way
Hi, I have a SA1000 which hangs on boot, no matter which one I choose (current, rollback or factory reset ) and I cannot even see the license keys. The instalation or the harddrive seem to be bad.
This is how it looks like:

I would like to revive this box and use it in my lab. Is there anyway I can do that. Obviously SA1000 is EOL/EOS and I cannot call JTAC for support.
I want to be able to boot from a CD and reload the OS or find the license keys and then re-install the OS.
Thank you,
Catalin
