import/export from 6500 to 4500

Hi Guys

is it possible to export the system and user configs from a SA6500 cluster, to a standalone SA4500.

We need to test 7.3 features.

Is there a way that we can update 2000 PULSE clients(ver2) without every client needing to downloading the new version (3) ?

let me know your thoughts

Re: import/export from 6500 to 4500

Hi Scotty,

You have imported only the system configuration, can you import the user configuration taken from the SA 6500 to SA 4500.

Roles, relams and other policy configs are part of user configuration.

You should use  user accounts  under "Import/Export" section, this is where you will import the user configuration.

Please tery this and revert us with the result

Re: import/export from 6500 to 4500

Hi Scott,

As per my understanding It is possible to export the user & system configs from a SA6500 cluster to a standalone SA4500 given that  the SA4500 is running the same version as SA6500 or not running  a lower version than the SA 4500.

While importing the system configuration please select "Import everything except network settings and licenses".

For using the version 2 client without version 3 popup, you can disable automatic upgrade of Junos Pulse Clients in IVE under options section under system maintenance.

Please test the above on test setup in lab before doing it on production, please work with JTAC support if you need assistance in migration.

Re: import/export from 6500 to 4500

Hi Scott,

You can export user and system configuration from 6500.

You should be seeing  the roles, relams and policies on the  SA4500 .

Re: import/export from 6500 to 4500

Hi Kannan

I have tried what you said.........export config except network settings - and i dont see any of the roles or policies.

just to recap - i have a SA6500 cluster and i would like to upload the configuration except the cluster settings and network settings into the new SA4500.

when i export the configuration, my files size is 156KB.....could that be right? we have loads of roles and policies - i would expect the files size to be over a couple of MB

let me know if im making a mistake - but it does seem simple enough
