installing pulse secure but error: rolling back ended prematurely

I am using pulse secure installer to set up a VPN connection on my Windows 10 computer. When I trying to install, the error occured, then all the install action rolling back. After that, a window pop-up with error message "Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error."

I already disabled compatibility mode.

Are there any way I can try to work out the problem?

Do you have AnyConnect or F5 BigIP installed?
Do you have Checkpoint installed?

Kaspersy software can also cause this issue, see https://kb.pulsesecure.net/articles/Pulse_Secure_Article/KB40851 and https://kb.pulsesecure.net/articles/Pulse_Secure_Article/KB40933 .

Re: installing pulse secure but error: rolling back ended prematurely

Hello

Unfortunately, I'm having the same issue.

What should I do if I do have CheckPoint and Anyconnect installed? I can't remove them because I'm working with them constantly. Anyway, if I'll be able to remove them for a short time and install PulseSecure will I be able to install the CheckPoint and the AnyConnect afterward?

Re: installing pulse secure but error: rolling back ended prematurely

We are trying to install pulse secure client on some laptops but error is shown "pulse secure wizard setup ended prematurely", we followed all the recommendations of pulse secure community as listed below but nothing solved the issue :

  • install both versions 5.3 and 9.0 r2
  • Disable all the security agents
  • Remove Cisco AnyConnect agent
  • Modify Windows to use the maximum number of filter drivers by setting the value of the following registry key to '14'.

Is there any chance that your agent is not supporting window 10 Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.407) ? or there might any other reason for that failure.

9.0R3 should be supporting that release of Windows
Please open a case with our support team so we can investigate further on what may be blocking the install

Re: installing pulse secure but error: rolling back ended prematurely

Enable MSI logging using /l*vx switch and replicate the issue.

Open the MSI log file and search/fold using the search string "Entrypoint" (without quotes/match case), which will help you to identify the specific install action which is failing, then review the possible causes for the failure.

Re: installing pulse secure but error: rolling back ended prematurely

Hi @JoseA,

Based on the logs, it seems that the network driver installation is failing (JNPRNS - Juniper Network Service).

"DIFXAPP: ERROR: Error 0x8007007E encountered while installing the inf 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\jnprns_260C6334D987C71B41EC39304CE4AE75D6794E54\jnprns.inf'. Unable to install network component 'jnprns'"

Are you using Windows 10 - 1607 build? Found this KB article: https://kb.pulsesecure.net/articles/Pulse_Secure_Article/KB40952

Thank you,

Ray.
