mag 2600 active passive cluster

We have 1 mag allready running with great succes for 2 years. We bought a second mag to put them both in a active/passive cluster. We have many services (radius etc) behind the mag and they all point to the current ip of the first mag. When I build the cluster then I have to assign a virtual ip I read in the documentation.

Is it a best practice if I first change the ip of the first mag to another ip en then assign the original ip to the virtual ip of the cluster?

That is how I woudl proceed.  As you realize, this makes the transition seamless to the downstream and upstream resources.  And puts all the configuration changes needed into just the two MAG devices.
