no data passing through JSAM - MAC

Hi Team

I am trying to access a webapp via JSAM,I have added via resource profile, server name and have added host file entry etc on the IVE and left the loopback address/Port blank but the client connects successfully on the MAC OS but the traffic to the web app when accessed via the browsers doesnt go via the VPN but goes externally.I have enabled hostname modifying as well.I tested the simulation under troubleshooting and it does take the right profile etc but when i do a policy trace, i dnt get the anything after the role map is successfully done. Also, i checked the etc/hosts -> there is no change. The mac OS is high sierra, java version 8 update 261.Please let me know if i am missing out, the installer was installed with admin privilege as well.

The PCS version is 9.1R3 and client is the same version

Re: no data passing through JSAM - MAC

@Pulseaccess Are you connecting to VPN using Pulse Client and getting a user role that has SAM (Java Version) enabled? If yes, then that's the issue. Pulse Client should NOT be in the picture when we're playing with JSAM.

Please login to the VPN through any web browsers like Safari, Google Chrome (Oh, before that disable the VPN TUNNELING feature on the user role, if you have it enabled - just keep the SAM (java mode) enabled with all profiles/policies configured) and you'd be seeing "JAVA secure application manager" with START button... hitting that..will launch the JSAM proxy client which will do the trick for you.

Please make sure you have the hostname of the webapp configured under the JSAM profiles, coz. JSAM will not work if use IP address as a resource (we can make it work, however, by accessing the loopback IP directly, in case of both IP / hostname based scenario - JSAM details tab will fill you with that details -- a tweak).

Re: no data passing through JSAM - MAC

Hey [email protected]

Thanks a lot for responding.

I have no vpn tunnel chosen. But does jsam support web apps? Ie apps accessed via the browser or it only supports client server connection. A doubt as the naming is only seem to mean client server connection. Unlike in wsam which accepts both types.

Yes, have added hostname and tested as well. Added host entry on the PS as well, nothing seems to be working. Tested on a test environment on a fresh Mac lap as well... Its the same behavior. So I am doubtful that jsam can be used in this case.

Re: no data passing through JSAM - MAC

@Pulseaccess JSAM supports web apps i.e. you can web applications from browser or any apps using hostname through JSAM (make sure the hostname of the web application gets resolved by the DNS server configured on the VPN).

If no bytes get incremented when accessing through hostname, please try to access the loopback IP address (we can find that on the JSAM details tab, pick any one, you will loppback with profile numbers) and check if the connection is successful (bytes will be get incremented).
