Re: session is not closed upon browser closing

yes, that is correct behavior: KB13467 outlines this further.

it is not possible to terminate the session once the browser closes.

Re: session is not closed upon browser closing

Hi Player,

What do you mean by "are not closed" ? You always see it in the active users session ?

If Yes , I think it s normal. Users have to logout with the logout button in their portal. If you simply close the browser, the session will be still active for 5 min in the SA.

I would like to enforce this option - when a user closes the browser the session must be ended - WSAM,NC everything.

I have tested it and this session is not closed even after 15 minutes.

Re: session is not closed upon browser closing

for this only the idle timeout will help, afaik.

Especially with NC / *SAM the system is designed to continue working when the browser is closed because the browser is only necessary to start those components.

If you are not using the ive as reverse proxy, you could try to check wether a JavaScript "onclose" in each page could call a function redirecting to the IVE's logoutpage. But if this will work it's in my eyes not a real tough solution.

Re: session is not closed upon browser closing

I agree, it'll come down to your idle timeout in the Session Options for the Role in question.

And maybe add a line to the Welcome page like 'to finish your session, click Sign-Out'....

Re: session is not closed upon browser closing

We have the same issue.  We are running 7.2R2 and have 7.4R4 in our lab, both having the same results.  When a user is connected with Network Connect and they shut down their computer, the NC session is terminated and removed from the Active Users list.  However, when a user is connected with SAM and they shut down their computer, the SAM session is not removed from the Active Users list.

We have the Persistent Session set to Disabled (session ends when browser is closed) but that has no effect when the browser is closed or when the computer is shut down.

We have reduced the max session length but this has to be an issue if users are connected from an internet kiosk and the session is maintained when the browser is closed.
