Client 9.1.7 hangs on Mac Mojave on Securing Connection reports failed to setup virtual adapter

I have installed pulse client 9.1.7 on Mojave 1.14.5 and when I enter my credentials it hangs on Securing Connection and eventually reports "failed to setup virtual adapter (Error:1205)"

And once the connection fails my internet connection is disabled and I can't get out at all even after killing the client. I have to reboot to restore the connection.

I see this in the debug log:

00139,09 2020/08/13 14:14:57.998 4 root dsAccessService dsTMService p0064 t2D0F platformVAMgr.cpp:397 - 'TM' CreateUtunDevice: Closing open socket
00186,09 2020/08/13 14:14:57.998 4 root dsAccessService dsTMService p0064 t2D0F platformVAMgr.cpp:438 - 'TM' CreateUtunDevice: connect failed on kernel control socket (errno = 16), utunNum = 1
00159,09 2020/08/13 14:14:57.998 3 root dsAccessService dsTMService p0064 t2D0F platformVAMgr.cpp:448 - 'TM' CreateUtunDevice: Socket Connect Success with utunNum = 2
00184

There are no other obvious errors in the logs. Other members of my team on the same client version and same OS are able to connect.

Re: Client 9.1.7 hangs on Mac Mojave on Securing Connection reports failed to setup virtual adapter

do you remember if you were able to get into system preferences>privacy to allow the kernel extension at install? if not, can you remove the client, install again, and ensure that you are able to authorize the kernel extension immediately after install?
