The Pulse Desktop Client 9.1.6 (ps-pulse-win-9.1r6.0-b2223-64bitinstaller.msi) does not install on a Windows 10 x64 PC (10.0.19041.264).
Every time the installation is launched, after a few seconds of validating install, I get the following message:
"An error has occurred while applying security settings. Users is not a valid user or group. This could be a problem with the package or a problem connecting to a domain controller on the network. Check your network connection and click Retry, or Cancel to end the install."
A 1609 msi error.
If I try to install any previous 9.1 version, I never have this problem.
Tried to uninstall any version of the client before retrying but no success.
Any ideas?
Found the solution myself.
There is a bug in the way 9.1.6 client installation package was created.
The problem occured because I'm using a non English version of Windows.
The msi doesn't recognize localized version of the Users group.
Workaround is to create a user group named Users.
Please PulseSecure, fix that ASAP.
I've the same issue with Windows 10 in french (no issue using a computer with Windows 10 in english).
Thank you for your tip.
Thanks for your post.
I can confirm:
PS C:\Users\[cut]> systeminfo [...] OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OS Version: 10.0.18363 N/A Build 18363 [...] System Locale: pl;Polski Input Locale: pl;Polski [...]
In the system there is no group named Users - instead there is a localized version called "Użytkownicy"
There is no possibility to install Pulse Desktop Client 9.1r6
