Pulse Secure Securing Connection ...

I've Windows 10 Pro 1909 (OS Build 18363.720) and Pulse Secure Version 9.1.4 (1761) and trying to connect the client remain in Securing Connection ... status and never stop.

In device manager Netwoks is presente the device: Juniper Networks Virtual Adapter Manager that has Driver Provider: Juniper Networks, Drive Date: 18/11/2008, Driver Version: 5.2.0.6009.

In Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections I don't see the Juniper/Pulse interface.

I've tryed more than once to uninstall and intall, but never with success.

This is the last event in the event viewer:

The connection (name hidden for privacy)(ID 9a8f838fb41ff843b580a86f6b0594d3) was established successfully to https://sslvpn.xxxxxxx.eu/it address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Some suggestion?

Re: Pulse Secure Securing Connection ...

Hi ranton,

can you see any messages in the User Access Log of the VPN gateway?

Is the Pulse gateway directly connected to the internet or is there a firewall filtering the traffic to the gateway?

Kind regards,

DM

Re: Pulse Secure Securing Connection ...

Open device manager and enable "Show hidden devices" by going under the view section. Now expand the network adapters section and check if "Juniper Networks Virtual Adapter" entry was present.

If no, then try to repair the Pulse Client which should install the missing adapter, please check the same after repair. Still doesn't find it, please uninstall any Antivirus program and retry. By the way, is it working before? Did you face this issue only upgrading the Pulse Client? If yes, then most probably, AV is the culprit. Good Luck!

P.S. Event logs will record that as a connection success since the IP address has been assigned to the Pulse Client, however the client is not able to bring up the virtual adapter.

To repair the installation, just type "repair pulse" on Windows search and you should see the repair utility.

Re: Pulse Secure Securing Connection ...

I am running Windows 10 [desktop], Pulse Secure VPN 9.1.8 - I can connect to the VPN but then my internet drops-why would this happen all of a sudden?

I thought it might be my internet but Comcast says no issues-

I have restarted everything (computer, work computer [I did connect for 1 second before getting disconnected, just enough time to reboot work computer, to which I connect], router, modem), several times- no luck.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Pulse Secure.  I tried "repair Pulse Secure"- no luck.

Any other advice?  Smiley Sad

Re: Pulse Secure Securing Connection ...

I have removed all Cisco VPN entries from this laptop.

I have Pulse Secure 9.1.6 (2223)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled it.

I also have McAfee 10.7

The av is corporate and i have no control over removing or disabling it.

Pulse Secure will connect via VPN one time. Works great. If i disconnect and then try to reconnect it sticks on the "securing Connection".  There is no way to then get out of this.

Try to disconnect it sticks at "disconnecting" then i have to kill the service and processes to even be able to get online.  I figured doing this would allow me back in but nope the Virtual Adapter seems to be locked in place.  I cannot for the life of me figure out what is locking that virtual adapter in place and will not release?

Any one come across this same issue and what is the fix?

Re: Pulse Secure Securing Connection ...

Lots of ISP's have been enabling TCP/IPv6 - this has been causing havoc with VPN connections as traffic is getting sent out via the internet rather than via the VPN

Either disable TCP/IPv6 for the wifi / lan adapter as a test or better still modify the registry to make TCP/IPv4 the preferred DNS route - create a new dword DisabledComponents   The Decimal value is  32

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters]
"DisabledComponents"=dword:00000020

Re: Pulse Secure Securing Connection ...

@ChrisD Do you have Cisco IP communicator application installed? if yes, then please uninstall it and delete C:\Windows\System32\drivers\cipccdp.sys manually.
