PulseSecureAppLauncher completes install but no client is installed

Hi, I read some other topics related to a similar issue but not quite the same, so I'm posting this.

I'm trying to install Pulse Secure Client on a new PC. In the link on my business client's server I get the PulseSecureAppLauncher.msi file which I downloaded on my computer and executed it and got confirmation that installation completed successfully.
But then, when clicking on the server's provided web link to launch the app, it says "The server configuration requires the application to be pre-installed" and a subsequent message says "Detected an internal error. Please, retry. If the issue persists, contact your administrator".

In Control Panel I see the following installed:

PulseSecureAppLauncher
Pulse Secure Setup Client
Pulse Secure Setup Client 64-bit Activex Control
Pulse Secure Setup Client Activex Control

If I rerun the app launcher for a new install it says it's already installed.
I went to delete the files and retried the procedure but I still get the same messages.

Before going through the client's internal helpdesk, which is quite slow and cumbersome, I'd like to have some suggestions of what might be the cause. I'm stuck in a loop and can't work!

Hi,

Pulse Secure Application Laucher is not the Pulse Secure Client.

Pulse Secure Application Laucher (aka PSAL) is just a small application which is used (at least) by the browsers to launch the several applications of Pulse Secure.

Pulse Secure Client it self, depending of the configurations of your company, could be installed via browser using VPN URL, but it need to have Pulse Secure Laucher before.

You should contact your company to check which is the correct procedure to installl and configure Pulse Secure Client.

I have the same problem. The Pulse Secure Application Launcher is installed, but it doesn't start and i can't find it to manually start. 

During the process, after the install, when trying to start from the website, a message is shown: Detected an internal error!

would you try one of the options?

1st option
Download the PulseSecureAppLauncher app
Right-click the PulseSecureAppLauncher app
Repair PulseSecureAppLauncher

Option 2
Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps
Install the Pulse Secure app

Same here. Using MacOS 10.15.7, Oracle JRE 8_271.

The Pulse Application Launcher shows up in the Activity Monitor but there's no application window.

The log ends with:

with this still cannot launch the app launcher. 

Error encountered when click on start Pulse secure VPN:

The server configuration requires the application to be pre-installed on your machine.

 when open from AppData\Roaming\PulseSecure\PSAL\PulseApplicationLauncher.exe:

Detected incorrect data from server.
Please retry. If the issue persists, contact your administrator. 

when open from AppData\Roaming\PulseSecure\PSAL\x64\PulseApplicationLauncher.exe:

Missing a component and needs to be re-installed.

Hi,

I just finished fixing this issue.

Previous comments are absolutely correct.

In my case as well, this issue persisted because I did not have pulse secure client installed.

So, here's what I did.

When I got the dialogbox that said "The server configuration requires the application to be pre-installed".

I opened my windows task manager (ctrl+shft+esc)

I went to 'Details' header on the task manager.

Find any process that has name "pulsesecure" (fast if you sort by 'Name' alphabetically)

There I saw a process 'PulseSetupClient.exe'

I right-clicked on that and chose 'open file location'

Which led me to the file location of PulseSetupClient.exe

I double clicked on file named 'Pulse Secure' of type windows installer package.

This installed a pulse secure app for me.

Then I again went to my url to login for vpn access, this time I was able to get access without the errors!.
