2nd IC4500 Licensing

Hi

One of my clients is already having an IC4500 installed with 1000 users license installed. Now he is looking forward for second IC4500 for HA. What licenses should I suggest him to configure IC4500 HA

Options Available

1. Infranet Controller 4500 Hardware Base Unit

2. Add 1000 simultaneous endpoints to IC4500

3. Allow clustering to another IC4500 for up to 5000 endpoints

4. Juniper Care NextDay Support for IC4.5K-HW (hardware only)

5. Juniper Care NextDay Support for IC4.5K-M (250-1999 EP)
6. Juniper Care NextDay Support for IC4.5K-CL

I believe I have 2 Options

OPTION 1-OLD Model :  1+3+4+6.

As I understand, as license for 1000 users is already binded to first Hardware ID, additional user licenses are not required, nor a service contract for the same is required. Just needed to confirm, if in case 1st hardware fails, then the users can failover to 2nd (new) hardware. Please help in clarifying the same.

OPTION 2-NEW Model:  1+4

As per new scheme for Clustering, I do not need Clustering license, but as there will be no endpoints license installed, what will happen if the 1st device fails. As per my understanding cluster will be formed, will I be able to failover to second device, but in absence of any endpoint license on the 2nd IC device, will all the 1000 users be able failover (as per documented, for 10 days grace period)

If there is any other combination that can work, please suggest.

Re: 2nd IC4500 Licensing

there is no requirement for number of licenses to be equal on both the devices.

you need 1+2+4

the  IC4.5K-HW is for spare units.

Re: 2nd IC4500 Licensing

Hi,

the new model is:

- 2 boxes with licences

   - N user for box 1

   - M user for box 2

- If the box 1 fail, the second box will accept N+M users on the second box with a maximum of M*2 during 10 days (time to replace the first box)

If you buy a box without licence, the second box will accept 0*2 = 0

to allow 1000 users on the second box, you can buy 500 users for the second box or the clustering licence.

Regards,

Stanislas

Re: 2nd IC4500 Licensing

Thanks Stanislas for the quick reply. Appreciated

As per your suggestion, even though one device will have 1000 users license and other device will have 500 users license, devices will be able to be configured in a Cluster supporting 1000 users at any given point.

There is no requirement for number of licenses to be equal on both the devices ??

As per above, if I go ahead and suggest customer for New IC4500 with 500 users license, my final BoM would look like below

1. Infranet Controller 4500 Hardware Base Unit

2. Add 500 simultaneous endpoints to IC4500

3. Juniper Care NextDay Support for IC4.5K-HW (hardware only)

4. Juniper Care NextDay Support for IC4.5K-M (250-1999 EP)

As per my understanding I will definately need 1+2.

Confusion is regarding 3 and 4. Do I need to include both the support Partcodes or Only Support IC4.5K-M will be enough, or as I already have Support for IC4.5K-M (250-1999 EP) with my earlier device, I can only go for Hardware only support for the second device. Please provide your suggestions on the same.

Attaching slide from Juniper's presentation. Please help in elaboration of the same.

Re: 2nd IC4500 Licensing

Dear Stanislas

One last query, In my original post with 6 options,

1. Infranet Controller 4500 Hardware Base Unit

2. Add 1000 simultaneous endpoints to IC4500

3. Allow clustering to another IC4500 for up to 5000 endpoints

4. Juniper Care NextDay Support for IC4.5K-HW (hardware only)

5. Juniper Care NextDay Support for IC4.5K-M (250-1999 EP)
6. Juniper Care NextDay Support for IC4.5K-CL

what, If I go want to go for CL License, then what will be my options

1+3+6

Also want to confirm if I will need a single CL license or 2 CL licenses as original hardware also does not have any CL license. Will I need to purchase for it as well.

I tried creating a a BoM with configurator, but I selected 2 Devices.

Following items were accepted as verified.

1. Infranet Controller 4500 Hardware Base Unit

2. Allow clustering to another IC4500 for up to 5000 endpoints

3. DR Clustering license to cluster another IC4500 to a primary for DR

4. Operate Specialist NextDay Support for IC4.5K-CL

Can you please confirm if all four part codes will be required or only 3 as per earlier will be adequate. Basically item 3 (DR Clustering license to cluster another IC4500 to a primary for DR) is a requirement for clustering??
