Booting a VM into VLS mode

I'm setting up a new PPS 9.1 deployment, and the license management document has directions for booting a PCS virtual machine in VLS mode which indicate the boot process will prompt to enable Virtual License Server.  When I boot the PPS VM, this prompt never appears.

I noted that the documentation mentions PCS specifically.  Also, the licensing guide is for 9.0 since there does not seem to be an equivalent posted yet for 9.1.

Does VLS require a PCS VM, even for PPS licenses, or do I need to run the VLS on a 9.0 release?

Thanks

Re: Booting a VM into VLS mode

I have deployed VLS using PCS VM not using PPS. VLS can be used to hold both CONSEC & POLSEC licenses.

If you're not getting the prompt to enable VLS option during the initial setup, then it could be caused by the the setup script, as it will be to NO for "EnableLicenseServer" property by default during the VM deployment on ESXi.

Please edit the property of EnableLicenseServer and it to Y (yes) and check the behavior.

Yes, VLS requires the PCS personality (same as on physical hardware).
the same instructions for 9.0 should apply to 9.1

Great, that should be simple enough then.  Thanks both of you.
