Configuration of IC 4500

hi,

Could anyone tell me the steps how to go in installing the below device and licences

IC4500Infranet Controller 4500 Hardware Base Unit2
IC4500-ADD-2000EAdd 2000 simultaneous endpoints to IC45001
IC4500-SOHAdds Microsoft SOH/NAP Agent integration capabilities to the IC45001
IC4500-CLAllow clustering to another IC4500 for up to 5000 endpoints1

The plan is to configure a cluster. Should both devices for the first time be configured as standalone and then later do the cluster?

Regards

Prasanth George

Re: Configuration of IC 4500

If you have already purchased CL license. Then you could do the following:

1. Install ADD-2000E and SOH license in one node, say NODE1.

2. Second node(say NODE2), you install CL license.

3. Do all the configuration in NODE1

4. Join NODE2 to NODE1 and form the cluster.

5. You should see all the configuration in NODE2 as well.

Re: Configuration of IC 4500

You may not need cluster license to form a cluster from IC version 4.0 and up; only ADD license and endpoint license would suffice. Please refer KB19816.

Re: Configuration of IC 4500

To answer your question, you could configure only one server and then form a cluster. Once the cluster is formed, configuration will be pushed to to the non-configured node.

Re: Configuration of IC 4500

Dear Raveen,,

Thanks a lot for the info.

So when i begin configuring the the first hardware for the first time then I have to choose standalone. Install the 2000 user licence and microsoft SOH. Do the needed configuration. Then begin configuring the second hardware as standalone. Then install the cluster license for it and then create the cluster.

Am i right?

what is the microsoft SOH license used for?

If my first node fails will the licenses be automatically migrated to the second node?

I am readiing about Cluster Active/ Passive and Cluster Active/Active. In my senario only Active/Passive will work right?

Re: Configuration of IC 4500

Dear Raveen,

Could you also please give me a link to how to configure a cluster using an example.

I am pretty new to Juniper hardware.

Re: Configuration of IC 4500

If you need interoperability between Microsoft NAP and Juniper's UAC solution, you would need SOH licence.

In short, to validate health of a windows client that uses NAP client, you need SOH licnese.

Your understanding is correct, except that you need not make any configuration in second node as it will be pushed from first/master node.

You can refer administration guide of IC to understand how to configure clustering.
