Hi all
i have question regarding host checker: OS Check. we want to allow user to access our network if Operating system that user use is windows xp professional only but from UAC predefined OS Check only have windows xp without the edition, that's means if we choose windows xp, user that use windows xp home edition also can pass the host checker policy.
is it any other way to specify the specific windows xp edition?
thanks
Ucup
Hi Ucup,
We can only check host checker Windows XP- 32/64 bit , windows 7 etc only with Minimum Service Pack/Version: like SP1 and SP2.
We can't check the specific edition using the this option, however you can try this by using Add Custom Rule : Registry Setting option where you need to specify the path where it shows the current edition or version of windows OS like home/professional etc.
Hope this helps.

Hi Kannan
May i know the registry path? could you give me an example
thanks
Ucup
Hi Ucup,
I tried finding the registry path however we are unable to retrive the edition from the bewlow mentioned path in registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
So If you are able to find the regitry path information which has the edition of the windows machine, then we can try assisting you on this

Hi Kalagesan
yes, i also dont know the path, if i know i can put in into the registry setting
thanks
Ucup
You should be able to get the OS edition from below key,
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurretVersion\EditionID
Windows 7 machines has this key be default.
