9.1 --> 9.2 Upgrade issue 'System hostname incorrectly set to (none)'

Hey guys, I have a support case open on this but I thought I would bounce it off the community.

I'm attempting to upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2, when the STM returns from its reboot it immediately starts complaining about the host name not being set.

Anyone else have this happen?

Re: 9.1 --> 9.2 Upgrade issue 'System hostname incorrectly set to (none)'

Hi Mathew,

Something that you be aware of is that hostnames should not have the "_"  character. RFC1912 indicates that hostnames should only have alphabetic, numeric, and "-" characters. The DNS server provided by the Redmond-based organisation allows the "_", because,  as we all know, the best thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.

Best regards

Stephen

Stephen,

Just to let you know I have successfully upgraded the Dev STM’s from 9.1 --> 9.4 without incident.

It was indeed (as you noted) the naming convention used that was not liked by version 9.2 and above.

Thanks for all your help today you were a great help.

Have a great weekend.

Matt
