Does this 9.0 (and the r2) include the Aptimizer both for IIS and Sharepoint as normally those are 2 separate products?
thanks

Hi pentolino.
Sorry fo rthe confusion. Stingray Aptimizer is available in three different flavors:
The future release will integrate the IIS and Share Point pieces into the plugin for the Stingray Traffic Manager. Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Faisal
Hi pentolino,
The 9.0 release does not support IIS or SharePoint. This will be supported in an upcoming release. IIS and SharePoint are supported today with plugins that are installed directly on the servers themselves. For for information please see here:

So this below means that Stingray Aptimizer for IIS or Sharepoint are 2 different products, also different from the Traffic Manager and that they work together, not Aptimizer being a Traffic Manager add-on?
.
Stingray™ Traffic Manager 9.0 now includes the capability for industry-leading web content
optimization (WCO), dramatically accelerating web-based applications and websites. This
capability, delivered by the Stingray™ Aptimizer integration, includes a range of best practice
optimizations, including compression, caching, merging, and dynamic layout to satisfy the most
demanding requirements.
...
This advanced WCO capability is available as a licensed add-on module for Stingray Traffic
Manager 9.0. Combined, it is industry’s only complete and fully featured solution that integrates
web content optimization with an application delivery controller (ADC). Stingray Aptimizer is
available as pure software for server install or as a pre-packaged software appliance for virtual
and cloud environments.
Correct. Aptimizer is available as an add on for the Stingray Traffic Manager but as of today that does not support IIS or SharePoint. We are planning to integrate IIS/SharePoint in a future release.
Faisal
and excuse my ignorance... what's the difference between "normal" aptimizer, IIS aptimizer and Sharepoint aptimizer?
Will the future traffic manager aptimizer be released as a single product that covers all or there will be developed different aptimizers?
thanks

Thanks, it helps enormously!
So future release will give the option to have also IIS and Sharepoint ones directly on the Traffic Manager appliance/VM...
questions:
- what are the advantages to have Aptimizer integrated with traffic manager? Using just one VM?
- will the 3 future add-on/packages continues to staay 3 different add-on with different licenses or they will merge in a single "aptimizer" that would do it all? In case that it's the second option, will it be integrated in the Traffic manager or will it remains an add-on?
thanks!
The main advantage, I think, would be that it sits on the Traffic Manager in front of your servers, so if you add/remove servers you're covered.
I'm not sure about the licensing scheme unfortunately.
Thanks,
Faisal
