Has anyone created a Management Pack for monitoring the traffic managers with SCOM?
Dan,
We don't have an official management pack for SCOM available - most customers that I have worked with have used the REST or SOAP API to develop their own cmdlets to suit their own use cases.
Can you share with us what functionality you are looking to achieve?
We are looking to consolidate the monitoring to SCOMend node up/down, through put, connections, etc.... Also on the system side we want to monitor CPU, memory, and throughput per Ethernet interface so it can be determined if the device or network start to be a bottleneck. SNMP is probably the best way to capture this data, I was not sure if anyone has created a management pack for SCOM based off the SNMP OID's or I we are going to need to develop our own custom monitors.
Cool - so a few things - the SNMP MIBs are available on every STM (They are under System > SNMP)
Also, you might be able to leverage the resources in this: Cacti Templates for Stingray Traffic Manager...
Hi,
Do you know if there is being worked on an packed for integration?
So that you have the basic steps/information available just installing the management packaged?
Regards,
Jesper
I just want to continue to what Jesper said. This is something we'd be very interested in and would be willing to be a beta tester if there are any plans for creating a Scom MP for StealApp.
Jesper/Dusty,
Thanks for your interest in a SCOM Management Pack for SteelApp. We have received several requests for this recently and are looking into it. We will definitely be interested in getting your feedback during the beta phase.
Thanks,
Harmeet
Hi Harmeet
I think we discussed Management Packs the other day, I would also be interest in being part of a beta phase.

I would definitely be interested in this as well. I have had difficulty creating a management pack from scratch and would like to see either the MIB's added to what Microsoft supplies, currently only steelhead is in their list, or a dedicated management pack to be installed. Our organization would gladly beta test as well if it is made available.
Hi Harmeet, do you have any feedback on the beta management pack from SCOM?
