Using Stingray to optimize HTTP and HTTP traffic between client and hosted proxy

I've currently got a Stingray-VA, version 9.3 installed and I would like to optimize web traffic to our cloud hosted proxy servers.

Ideally, the process would be CLIENT to STINGRAY to CLOUDPROXY and back again.

What is the best approach to achieve this?

Many Thanks!

Re: Using Stingray to optimize HTTP and HTTP traffic between client and hosted proxy

Hi Jordan,

I'm new myself to Riverbed but there is so much collateral to get going. I will assist you in helping you understand what Aptimizer can do. I copied the below snippet from another page that can help you understand the role of Aptimizer.

The Stingray TM will help you load balance the web traffic while enabling Aptimizer optimizes it.

Hope this helps !

Regards,

Arun

Stingray Aptimizer is a Web Performance Optimization (WPO) tool that performs just-in-time optimizations to web applications.  This results in web pages loading up to 4x faster while using 30% less bandwidth.

Re: Using Stingray to optimize HTTP and HTTP traffic between client and hosted proxy

Hi Jordan,

What is it that you want to optimize? If your focus is to optimize the bandwidth usage of your web traffic or increase the page load times, then turn on the aptimizer feature in the Stingray Traffic Manager and set it up to receive all the client traffic directed to the proxy.  Based on your needs, you can define customized rules for optimizing different aspects of the web traffic.

Re: Using Stingray to optimize HTTP and HTTP traffic between client and hosted proxy

Excuse my ignorance, I'm a Riverbed rookie.

We have two goals, to use Stingray application delivery to ensure all web traffic exits via the DataCentre and to optimize it as much as we can.

We currently have Stingray's implemented in the DataCentre and Steelheads implemented at the DC and each branch office.

I understand that I would setup each workstation with a proxy server pointing to the Traffic IP Pool on the Stingray and configure a Virtual Server and Pool to forward traffic to the nodes (those nodes being my proxy servers). How does Aptimizer come into it?
