how to test and measure Aptimizer's performance on Sharepoint?

Hi,

I recently got request to process POC of Aptimizer for Sharepoint.

I have experience doing POC of Aptimizer for Web and measured it with HttpWatch checking response time.

But since Sharepoint works differently like downloading files, not loading them on Browser,

I don't know how to check it if Aptimizer works well.

any tips for that?

thanks in advance.

Re: how to test and measure Aptimizer's performance on Sharepoint?

Hi Jay

Aptimizer optimizes the user experience and bandwidth associated with webpages load times, think HTML, CSS, JS, images. Aptimizer improves the web page load time ,  Start render (the time the page starts to appear in the browser) and the data size of the pages itself.  Aptimizer has tailored Sharepoint optimization rules for specific sharepoint web content (e.g. the sharepoint ribbon).

Tools like HTTPwatch and site analyzer are perfect to benchmark these metrics with Aptimizer on vs Original.

They benchmark the user experience through a web browser

File downloads are optimized with other riverbed products: Accelerate Microsoft SharePoint with Riverbed Steelhead (RiOS 8.5) | Riverbed

hope this helps

Re: how to test and measure Aptimizer's performance on Sharepoint?

Have you used the Site Analyzer tool which is available within the Riverbed support portal under the Stingray section?

Re: how to test and measure Aptimizer's performance on Sharepoint?

Aptimizer performs optimizations with the code of a site (.html, php, ,asp, etc.) and the objects used to render a page in the browser.  Aptimizer will not increase the performance on Items such as office documents and zip files that are not used to render the page, For these items, look into Traffic Manager and Steelhead.

Re: how to test and measure Aptimizer's performance on Sharepoint?

I don't get it.

according to this paragraph about aptimizer for sharepoint on this page,

http://www.riverbed.com/products-solutions/products/application-delivery-stingray/Stingray-Aptimizer...

it says,

Riverbed Stingray™ Aptimizer for SharePoint software

Deployed as a simple web-server extension to Microsoft SharePoint, this version speeds up a SharePoint website or intranet. It reduces browser round trips to and from the server, which lowers page load times up to 90%.

doesn't it mean that aptimizer optimizes sharepoint?

if not,

then what is aptimizer supposed with sharepoint?
