There are features that require specific IVE OS versions (e.g. Collaboration and Host Checker support require IVE OS 7.2), yes, but in general you should be ok to use any IVE OS version 7.0 and later.

This was resolved with ESAP 1.8.2. 1.8.0 broke mcafee and it took them 2 months to fix it.
