Nothing new from my ticket. The support rep was unable to replicate the problem, and I don't have the time to un-install/re-install various versions of AVG to see where it starts to break down, so at this point my ticket will get closed/unresolved. The only thing I was able to determine is that if you start with a clean slate as far as AVG is concerned, it seems to work.. My desktop had version AVG 8 to the present installed at some point and some of the remains of all those version were in the registry. Once I removed all those registry entries and re-installed 2015 it worked just fine... Too bad that's not something I can tell my end users to do... -Stephen

Has anoyone tried this combination? I've tested from two different workstations and neither one is being recognaized... One is running AVG Free 2015 and the other is AVG Internet Security 2015... -Stephen

We are also taking a wait and see approach, but we are slated to re-evaluate our VPN capabilities next year anyway. We have nothing else with Juniper, so they will be loosing us as a customer once the sale is final. If the support and updates improve, then theres a good chance we will stick with the devices...

Hi, I see that a patch was released for 5.0 that fixes the OpenSSL issue. Is a patch going to be released for 4.4? We are currently running 4.4 and a non-vulnerable version of the Odyssey Client (5.4). The release notes for 5.0 says that it supports Odyssey 5.5 or 5.6 and above, so if we go to UAC 5.0 that means we also have to upgrade all 1000 desktop clients... Not a fun thing to do on short notice. Thanks -Stephen

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone lese is seeing this.... We have host checker setup to check for a specific Virus Dat file (ClamXav in this case) with the following rule: <%user.home%>/Library/ClamXav/db/daily.cld File modified less than 14 days ago. For some reason since we've updated to 7.3, this no longer works. I have the exact same rules setup on our 7.3r4 (Mag 4610), 7.3r1 (SA2500) and 7.1r12 (SA4000) servers and it only works on the 7.1r12 server... In the Host checker failure message out to clients, it even says "Users/myusername/Library/ClamXav/db/daily.cld not found.", but I can go to the directory and see the file it right there and with todays date... If I have one of the pre-defined AV applications on the Mac, it finds those just fine, so Host Checker appears to be getting loaded properly. Suggestions? I'm going to open a ticket with support, but figured I'd check here first and see if anyone else has seen this... -Stephen

reviving old thread..... Similiar problem... We only started seeing the alerts since I enabled SNMP Traps, so either it's just a coincidense (the boxes have been running for years and we've never maunally cleared the logs, so that's highly unlikely) or the act of enabling the SNMP Traps started the monitoring. It's the UserLog that is giving us the warning.... If the old logs just fall off when a new one needs the space, then I will just set the warning to 100% (or 0% if that disabled it). I just want to make sure that it will not stop recording new logs if it really gets full.... I saw the "Archive" logs part, but I don't want to archinve them on some server somewhere, I just want the old ones deleted. We send everything to our syslog server anyway, so we have what we need for historical purposes... Thanks. -Stephen

Hi All, We recently upgraded to 7.3R5 and we've had a number of people have a huge problem with loadng host checker... Most of them are ok once all the OLD version of the Juniper Apps are uninstalled, but a few can't get host checker to install no matter what our help desk tries... One of our help-desk reps then tried givng the remote agent the NetConnect client. We don't use NetConnect at all on these boxes and the only thing in the profile is a couple RDP shoutcuts... But, the people he has tried have had sucess using the netconnect client to login instead of their Broswer. Has anyone tried this before? Any downsides? It seems to fix any incompatabilites they may have browser-wise or anyhting else, but wanted to see if anyone else uses the Netconnect EXE for non-netconnect connections... Thanks. -Stephen

Hi all, Is there a document that tells have to manually remove all the bits and pieces of OAC? One of our laptops had an unsucessful uninstall and when they try and re-install it says "JOAC has encountered errors and has rolled back". There is no uninstall app to remove the rest of it now and nothing to "roll back" to, so we are stuck.... Thanks. -S

I opened up a ticket, but we found the problem before TAC got back with anything... Aparently the IC servers don't generate a random/unique "Computer" name if you leave it at the default when setting up the AD connector. Two of our servers automatically generated the same Computer name, so each one kept resetting the AD credentials and locking the other one out... Once I changed one of them to a different name, both appliances seemed to behave normally... -Stephen

Hi All, we have 5 IC/UAC servers that have been in produiction for a month or so... Just last week, two of them started losing their connection to AD and we would have to "Reset Join" for them to respons to authentication. The other three servers are just fine... One of the servers with a problem is in a Active/Passive cluster with another applliance inthe same data center, and the secondary box is just fine... Anyone seen that before? suggestions? -Stephen

Getting a little more "Out there" as a solution.... If these are all Comapny owned devices, you could have a startup script that does an internet lookup and writes the country code to a specific Registry Key. then construct a host checker policy to use that key for Role access... -S

We also use UltraDNS and have it balance between our two SA4000 in two different datacenters. We do have them clustered together on different networks. UltraDNS doesn't do any realy fancy load balancing, we just have it set for 50/50 round-robin type with service checking to make sure each node is up and running.... You can setup fialover groups and priorities if you have multiple servers to deal with.. -S

FWIW: I have gotten IE10 to work for Host Checker by putting it into IE9 compatability mode. Unfortunately you have to do that each time you open it. The few users we have on Win8/IE10 are using Firefox instead. -S

Our InfoProtection guys are very much against going that route, but we'll see what happens. There are other Free Apps that people can use, and I think that what people have been doing lately... We have quotes for a pair of new MAG devices, but we haven't decided how to run the licensiing yet. It's not the same as we did before, and we haven't had time to really look at it to see what would work best... Thanks. -Stephen

So, it looks like Microsoft has made a change recently... I updated my pattern files this morning at 8:45am. it was version 1.141.318, Createed 11/22/2012 11:52pm I just updated again at 11:00am, and the version now comes back as 1.141.333, Created at 11/23/2012 4:55am. So, in the span of 5 hours, MS increased the version number 15 times....

Hi, i'm wondering is anyone else out there is noticing this issue. It really looks like MS recenlty upped thier pattern file release schedule. I have a number of users that have MSE and it's pretty sketchy if they will pass Host Checker, but if they do a fresh update, it will pass after that.... I looked at my definitions this morning and it said they were updated yesterday, but the SA still said they were out of date. As soon as I updated, I passed just fine... I'll need to watch the pattern file numbers next time and see what they difference is... It would be nice if we put a Date on the pattern file updates (ie. less than a week old) like you can on specific file checks instead of just "10 updates"... -S

I did a system update on my MBP and host checker just sat there for a few minutes until I cancelled it... I was able to pass HostChecker after loading Java directly from www.java.com. It also worked for ProperJavaRDP. We do not use NetConenct/Puse, so I don't know about that... I have not heard from any other users at this time, so I only have one example... We are running a SA2500 on 7.1R12. I was testing from a MBP with Lion.

Hi All, I'm guessing this is just a setting somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.... I have a URL that I have set for "Do Not ReWrite, Redirect to Server" on two different systems. On one SA, when I click the bookmark, it opens a new window and the new webpage opens up as normal. On our other SA, when I click the link, I get a little yellow box that says "Please Click https://www.mydomain.com to access this resource". I would like to get rid of the intermediate redirection page... Suggestions? Thanks. -Stephen

I have the shortname and the IP address in the policy, so that should have covered it. I'll just stick with the host entry until I can convince the sharepoint guys to change it on their end.. Thanks for the help and suggestions.. -S

The Internal domain is listed at the first domain in the box. I currently don't have the "Auto Allow" checked, but pretty sure I did when I was testing... When I get some time, I'll make up a test role to play with.. The existing one is working with the hostname, so I'm guessing a few people may get upset if I started playing around with it.. :)

Both domains are listed and the DNS servers listed will process requests for both domains as well. We've never had a problem using either DNS domain in a FQDN.. I'm guessing this has more do to with the SA not doing a proper DNS request for shortnames.... It does work if I enter in a host table entry for the shortname, but not the best solution... Hi, We are having a problem with DNS and Sharepoint and was hoping someone could let me know if it's possible.... Our SA is setup with a different domain (mycompany.com) than our internal DNS domain (insidemycompany.com). Is there a way for the SA to use a different domain name when quering internal DNS for short names? When I put in http://myserver/default.aspx as a web bookmark, it tries to resolve it as "myserver.mycompany.com" and I would like it to do a lookup for "myserver.insidemycompany.com". I'd like to tell it to try multiple DNS domains when trying to resolve like most PC OSs can.... The real issue is Sharepoint that have some sort of URL redirection setup that only recognizes the shortname, not the FQDN, so we can't put the FQDN into the web bookmark. Thanks. -Stephen

Is there a place where I can get the list of EASP supported products in a different format? We have an internal "Help" document that we update each time we update our ESAP file and with the latest update we did, they changed the format of the PFD and added the "Friendly" name in addition to the Real name. It's nice to have both names, but now I cannont copy and paste the information into our help guide without hours of clean-up work on the file. Thoughts/Suggestions? Thanks. -Stephen
