Couldn't agree more. Pulse client is COMPLETELY useless without L3 access. I spent ALL DAY getting this configured and installed using cert auth and after finally making it work... I'm completely disappointed. If you just want SSL proxy go ahead and install but if you want network extension to access or manage systems at your organization, dont bother installing. I know nothing about how the current VPN solutions available on the iPad are coded but I doubt highly that they would include this functionality so that you connect and then immediately disconnect. Activesync does work just like standard iPod's but this user was hoping to perform poweruser tasks (i.e. remote desktop and ssh sessions) over VPN. The main reason I push for standardizing on our Juniper devices is platform support. It beats all the other solutions as far as flexibility is concerned, For me, mobile device support has been a small issue I've ignored. Unfortunately mobile devices are growing in popularity, becoming more powerful, have faster connection speeds, and are generally to a point where they can be used in place of standard PC's. This is the trend I'm seeing and the iPad is the best example of this. I'm not a huge fan of the iPad product to be honest but I cant ignore the business need and fact they will become a key device in our computing environment along with other platforms such as the Android which is available with similar specs. Moreover, the iPad device ships with a Cisco VPN client along with PPTP and LT2P support. If Cisco can make a client for the iPad and see the obvious change in mobile computing devices shouldn't Juniper as well? Juniper please refocus some of the development efforts on mobile computing. I was able to do this via LDAP integration. Essentially I statically set the IP address I wanted for a user within the IP Phone attribute (you can use whatever attribute you wish). Once set inside your LDAP system (I used Microsoft AD) create a Connection Profile and select the IP address Pool radio button under the IP Address Assignment section. Inside the IP Address Pool field enter the LDAP attribute. In my case it was <userAttr.ipPhone>. Hope that helps. ... View more
