I've got two SA4500 with the appropriate cluster licensing and I believe I followed the cluster setup as the documentation describes. Both nodes show in the cluster status and there are no errors present on that screen. However I see a lot of errors in the logs where the cluster flip-flops between the nodes and generates the following error for each node as this happens: VIPs deactivated on node X on all ports, reason confused about ownership. If I try to manually failover the VIP it goes to node 2 and then right back to node 1 again, generating these errors. Has anyone seen this before? I haven't been able to find anything about this scenario so far, I figured I'd ask here before going to support. Thanks.

I also just noticed that a bunch of javascript/css errors come up before it shows the page with broken format like the screenshot in the first post. I'll try to collect the specifics of those errors.

So far I've had reports from users on IE7,8,9, Firefox, with both Windows XP and 7 OS. I got around this for one realm by setting it to not notify the user of multiple sessions unless they were at the limit, but we have some realms that we really don't want to allow multiple sessions so we're still having trouble with those.

We let some consultants share accounts for VPN, and sometimes people crash and their session remains open. It used to be no problem, you'd just get the screen on your next login explaining that you already had a session open and could optionally close the other one upon creating the new session. This still works, but only when I connect to the SA on the inside interface. On the external interface the page doesn't load completely so users aren't able to do anything. Screenshot attached. Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Download performance was 50% of the upload performance. I spoke with our guys in Europe who tried a similar config and they reported similar issues. I placed the external interface outside the network with a public IP and the performance is much better, and now ESP works (never could get that working through the FW). We weren't doing anyting special at the firewall, just port-based NAT rules.

Hi, I'm just curious to see how others have their SA appliances set up. I've currently got the external firewalled in a DMZ and the internal sitting right on the LAN. We use Watchguard firewalls and we have a burstable T3 so I have a lot of bandwidth caps in place for both inbound and outbound traffic. I've been thinking about giving the SA external port a public IP and bypassing the firewall to see if it helps with some bandwidth inconsistencies I've been seeing (upload vs download over NC). How do you guys have your SA tied into your physical networks? -Josh.
