use the OVF converter tool - http://www.vmware.com/resources/techresources/1013 It's command line. Here's the command that worked for me. ovftool -st=ovf -tt=vmx c:\SA\VA-DTE-16499-VT.ovf c:\sa2\VA-DTE-16499-VT c:\SA is where I extracted the ovf and vmdk.
