Just caught site of this post. I use the Citrix Listed Applications feature which does not require the presence of Citrix Web Interface server. I must admit I always instruct users to add the IVE site to their Trusted Zone within IE to allow to easy deployment of the clients that need downloading.

I am thinking about deploying WSAM as opposed to Network Connect (NC) for our Corporate Laptop users. These guys only ever use Citrix or their local Outlook client. As I want to rollout the Virtual Keyboard I don't like the idea that this could be bypassed via the min web portal for the NC client. Can anyone foresee any issues with the switch in terms of reliabilty etc?

Slow mouse and keyboard response. I have now turned off the 32 bit colour option. Initial testing shows no change in performance though.

Sorry to dig this up again but after upgrading to IVE 7.0 I havn't seen much of an improvement in performance. Even when undertaking a remote session with a Juniper engineer, I can tell that the response is poor even from their side when using the Secure Meeting feature. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas that could help? Thanks.

I wonder if in the long term there will be plans to offer a virtual appliance as a direct replacement for some of the existing SA units. Due to the cost of the licences, I am now looking at alternatives to the IVE so I have a solution in case of DR. Having a virtual appliance would have allowed me to replicate this to our DR site (we run vSphere with mirrored SANs).

I have upgraded from 6.x to 7.x and I don't think the VKB has changed at all. well not cosmetically. The VKB option is only available to Admins but I plan to roll this out to the masses. Right now I use a solution from Safeword which works great for secondary authentication via a OTP. However, I have 60+ key fobs in circulation and only a handful of people really use the IVE. By implementing the VKB and in conjunction with a tight password policy I am going to dump Safeword in the next few months.

Thanks Zanyterp, Yes you are right on both counts. After opening a support ticket and reading the release notes (should have done that in the first place), I found that it does in fact work in a Win7 environment so long as you use the 32 bit version of IE.

Hi Charles, I should have stated earlier, that it was tried on a 64 bit version that failed although to be honest, I never tried to it on a 32bit version myself. Trouble is nowadays, most versions sold to consumer tend to be 64bit versions.

When using Citrix Listed Applicaitons where the IVE delivers the ICA client, for Windows 7 users, the IVE correctly detetcts the absence of the ICA client but when the users click on the download option, they are taken to a blank page instead. Works ok on Vista and XP. Has anyone come across this?

Hey Kevin, Thanks for the response. Yes you are right, there is an option for a selection list. How stupid of me. However I guess my real concern for the long term is after moving to the Kiosk based template (first dumping Safeword), Juniper may decide to remove the template option in the future leaving me high and dry. Kudos to you anyway.

Does anyone use the Kiosk sign-in page as a level of additional security? I am currently using additional authentication via safeword (key fob) and am looking to swap this out with the Kiosk sign-in page as it looks cool. The only limitation I can see is that there is no option to choose the Realm, you need to enter it (a form of security maybe?). Any comments would be helpful.

Interesting. Forgot to mention that I have turned off Session Reliabilty on the Citrix farm as it was causing more problems then curing. Unless you use this feature, might be worth turning it off to see if the IVE works for you thereafter.

Yes, In the section where you are listing your server resourses, use the following at the very top:- *:1494,2589 This fixed my problem. Let me know if it fixed yours.

Javi, Thanks for coming back to me. In the end I ended up using the Citrix Listed Applications feature which supports SSO and ICA client download, direct from the IVE. It's also meant that I could do away with the WI server completely as the Citrix apps appear on the Home Page. Thanks again for your help.

Hi, I am running 6.4R1 using a web profile to access my Citrix applications via WI 4.6 (using XenApp 4.5 ent). I have used the following cookie entry for SSO:- Cookie WINGSession=remoteClientDetected=Auto(Ica-Local)&icaClientAvailable=True When I use this, I effectivley disable the ICA auto client detect. I have searched through previous posts and was wondering if anyone has come across this recently and had a work around. Thanks.

Hi David, Can you let me know what firmware you are running? I am on 6.3R3 and am trying to use Citrix Listed Applications as well. Juniper closed this case on me as they said that it doesn't work on the version at the moment? By the way, for Mac support I use the Hosted Java Applications feature.

No all self taught. I would recommend reading this book:- Juniper Networks secure access VPN ISBN 13: 978-1-59749-200-3 Release date end of March for the fix. The problem is that there are numerous ways of getting Citrix to work. I publish Desktops so I need to make sure that I can server load balance via WI. There are plently of wizards that can help you do this. I have just this week got ICA java to work (via Hosted Java Applet) which means there is zero software to install on the client. Ideal for Kiosks etc. Limited functionality but fairly good in any case. By the way, are you still having problems with the Citrix Listed Applications feature as well. When you look at it there is not a lot that can go wrong but I think it's a known issue (in 6.3R3 anyway)?

Hi Dave109, My issue is identical to yours. i.e no Citrix will not launch, not accepting connections etc. I am able to renumerate all the available Citrix apps via xml, no problem. But just like you, it doesn't work. Oh by the way, I have logged a call with Juniper who have advised that the issue with the ICA cient install will be fixed in 6.4R1 and 6.3R4. Right now, I have my users connecting via Web Interface using WSAM as the transport mechanism. With WI, I am able to get auto client detect and an option for my users to install the XenAppWeb client (msi).

I am running 6.3R3 using Citrix Listed Applications to present out the published applications available (on XenApp 4.5 server). However, I only seem to connect intermittently with the following error message when I fail:- "Cannot connect to the Citrix XenApp server. The Citrix XenApp server you have selected is not accepting connections." I can confirm that there is no issue if I run this via WSAM using Web Interface and also as a Hosted Java Applet. Any advice would be helpful.

It's been a while but I have to get round to upgrading the firmware on the IVE. I am currently running 6.1R4 and looking to move up to 6.1R7. I did use 6.2R1 for a while but had such a bad time with freezing issues under Citrix I rolled back. I would like to hear peoples opinion on:- 6.1Rx 6.2Rx 6.3Rx Then main drive for this is better compatibilty with Vista (had problems with Host Checker) and support for Firefox 3.x Thanks.

Can anyone step me through the process of configuring a Hosted Java Applet for the Citrix Java Client? I did this ages ago and now I cannot remember. Here is a note of what I have already done:- Tried to upload the the latest Java client (JICAComponents.zip v9.6) from the Citrix Website and upload this (without decompressing). I then got the following error message:- "The uploaded archive does not contain any Java applet code. Please upload a file that contains code for at least one Java applet" Can anyone advise me on what I need to do with the actual .zip file in the first place so that I can upload it? Hi JP, I used to use Citrix Listed Apps but ran into problems with the ICA client in .cab format (no longer being supported by Citrix). Session reliablity has given me no end of problems with users on the LAN as well as the SA so I have turned this off. For your information, I now use Web Inteface over WSAM so I can use the latest XenApp 11.x client which is now nice and small.

I am running a SA2500 on 6.1R4 and have a Citrix Web Resource setup, pointing to a LAN based Citrix Web Interface 4.6 server with auto client detect turned on. If I sign on locally on the LAN at the URL address, I can download the client following detection. When I go through the SA (ie externally), I can run through the client detect but I get an error when attempting to download the client. The message reads "Internet Explorer cannot download DanaInfo=nameofmyserver+ica32web.msi from myvpnwebsite.com" Has anyone seen this. I thought it was a firewall issue but I have a open rule for all DMZ traffic from the SA to the the LAN. Thanks.

RHIPS, thanks for the tip off. It's quite amazing how careful you need to be when using firmware revisions. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of a test appliance so pretty much everything is tested by our end users. At least the rollback feature works!
